NEEDS OF TRAINEES - SURVEY

Before I get started....THANK YOU... for completing this brief questionnaire!

As you may know, we've began offering an intensive week of training in hair loss twice per year at Women's College Hospital in Toronto.  We have resident trainees and physicians from all over the world coming to Toronto to learn about hair loss and hair transplantation.  It is an intense and very busy week - but a tremendously enjoyable week of learning.

We are moving into the "next stage" of the course - and as part of this I would really appreciate if you could give me advice and feedback on your experiences while participating in the hair clinics in Toronto! Some of you have participated in a few clinics with me, some have participated in research, and others have participated in even longer durations of training - and some have even now participated in the week long hair course!

Regardless of which experience you've had, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to complete this questionnaire!!!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to let me know!

Jeff

What level of training were you BACK WHEN YOU COMPLETED training with Dr. Donovan?
We've been considering a number of things as we plan the week long hair course. Please rank the following statements as to whether you agree or disagree. *

Daily lectures are an important part of a week long course.
Participants should EACH be given the opportunity to research and present a specific topic during the week.
A mix of routine and challenging cases is important to see during the week but there should be slightly more 'tough cases' than 'easy cases'
I wish I saw more cases of SCARRING ALOPECIA during my training.
I wish I saw more cases of ADVANCED ALOPECIA AREATA during my training.
I wish I saw more cases of MALE ANDROGENETIC ALOPECIA during my training.
I wish I saw more cases of FEMALE HAIR LOSS during my training.
I wish I saw more cases of CHRONIC TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM during my training.
I wish I saw more cases of PEDIATRIC HAIR LOSS during my training.
I wish I had more teaching in HAIR PATHOLOGY during my training.
I wish I saw more cases of HAIR TRANSPLANTATION during my training.
I wish I had more time to talk about hair loss medications (finasteride, minoxidil, hydroxychloroquine) during my training.
Charging a 'course fee' for physicians who have completed training is acceptable
Making the course 'free' to physicians-in-training (residents, fellows) who have not completed training is acceptable
Having a set of notes to take home with me after a course is important
If I was participating in a course, I would like to receive notes by email well ahead of the course start date.
Since visiting the hair clinic, are you seeing more hair loss patients than you imagined, the same number or less than you imagined?
Is there a DISADVANTAGE to being an "Observer" in the clinic? (Do you think Observers learn less or have a worse experience in the clinic compared to a resident ?)
FINALLY, would you be willing to join an external "planning committee" for our hair course. You would simply be asked to participate in 2 conference calls via phone in February and March and possible review a few documents via email - that's it!
