MINOXIDIL AFTER AGE 65

QUESTION: I read that minoxidil is approved up to age 65. Should I stop once I get 65. I am now 64.

ANSWER:

The short answer is be sure to check with your doctor.

Rogaine is formally FDA approved from individuals from 18-65 years of age. Any individual who wishes to use of the drug after 65 is said to be using it in an 'off label' use. However, lots and lots of drugs are used off label. Anyone wishing to use minoxidil after 65 should speak to their physician. There are many medical reasons why one should not use monoxidil  - including cardiovascular disease (heart disease) and blood pressure problems (to name just a few).

Speak to your doctor.
