REFERRALS TO DR. DONOVAN

Dear Referring Doctor,

If you have a patient that you feel needs to be seen by Dr. Donovan due to any of the following three reasons (see below), Dr. Donovan welcomes you to contact him to discuss the patient in greater detail. This is best done by sending along a fax introducing the patient and the reason for referral or by reaching out to our office to set up a brief phone call directly (between Dr Donovan and the referring doctor) to fully discuss the patient’s situation. Dr Donovan will always welcome a chat about your patients.

Generally speaking, Dr Donovan is not accepting most new patients right now. The clinic has paused routinely accepting physician referrals and self-referrals on Nov 1, 2023. However, Dr Donovan will continue to review new physician referral requests on a case by case basis and do his best to help as many of the more complex patient referrals as possible. Challenging diagnostic cases and those patients highly refractory to standard treatments are given consideration.

The three reasons Dr Donovan will consider a new patient referral at the present moment are:

a) the patient’s diagnosis is not clear after appropriate investigation (generally a biopsy has been done)

OR

b) the patient’s diagnosis is clear but typical first line treatments have been tried and are either not helping or not tolerated

OR

c) the patient’s diagnosis is clear and treatments are helping but unexpected treatment related side effects have developed

REFERRALS can be faxed to 1.604.648.9003 or practitioners can simply call our office at 1.604.283.1887 or email our office (whistleroffice@donovanmedical.com) to set up a phone call with Dr Donovan. Dr Donovan may wish to discuss each case with referring doctors before formally accepting the referral. Dr Donovan regrets that referral of a patient the the Donovan Hair Clinic does not necessarily constitute an agreement that he will be able to accept the patient for consultation.
