Lichen planopilaris (LPP) is a scarring hair loss condition. It is characterized by hair shedding and hair loss accompanied by itching, burning and pain. It is typical to see scales surrounding the hair follicle, known as perifollicular scale or follicular hyperkeratoses, in patients with active disease.
