Scalp Biopsy

4 mm Punch

Scalp punch biopsies are small samples about 4 mm in diameter. They are removed from a specific site on the scalp with the hope that the chosen spot is representative of the overall hair loss condition affecting the scalp. Scalp biopsies have the highest chance of being helpful if they are taken from the correct area of the scalp using both vertical and horizontal sections and interpreted by an expert dermatopathologist.
