QUESTION OF THE WEEK

The No Poo Movement

How often should we shampoo?

I was interviewed last week about the so called "no poo" movement.

CTV NEWS: ARE WE SHAMPOOING TOO OFTEN?

The key points everyone should know is that shampooing routines are personal. If you want to shampoo weekly - go for it. If you want to shampoo three times per week - go for it. Those with curly and coloured treated hair generally shampoo less than those with fine greasy hair.

Individuals who shampoo infrequently have a high risk of developing scalp issues - like dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. There is no good evidence to date that by reducing shampooing we shut down our scalp's oil producing factories. These are influenced more by diet, genetics and the environment.
